In an interview, Lampard expressed his hope that Coventry would demonstrate their strength in the Premier League and urged the team to go all out in their opening match against Arsenal on Friday, so as not to leave any regrets after the game.

Coventry returns to England's top flight after 25 years, with their first match being away to reigning champions Arsenal. Just four months ago, they celebrated winning the Championship title. Lampard admitted that the Premier League's intensity is higher but hopes the players will enjoy the challenge. "The last thing I want to feel after playing a team like Arsenal is that we didn't play in the right way, that we didn't give everything. If we can do that, as a team, we can compete in this league and show our strength."
Lampard emphasized that Coventry should not be intimidated by strong opponents: "I want to see from our performance and how we play that we haven't come here with any fear. Both the team and I have immense respect for Arsenal, but that doesn't mean you have to be overly respectful and play passively. I want us to have the right mindset and play in the right way."
Coventry has already invested approximately £130 million this summer to strengthen their squad, aiming to bring in physically strong players who can adapt to the Premier League. Six of the eight new signings this summer are at least 6 feet (approximately 1.83 meters) tall, including Caleb Jellinki, who set a club transfer record at £26 million, and Swiss center-back Armenda, who stands at 6 feet 6 inches (approximately 1.98 meters). On Wednesday, the team signed 19-year-old forward Sherif from Fenerbahçe and is still looking to acquire a left-back.
Lampard stated that physical prowess is a crucial factor for competing in the Premier League: "Physicality is a big part of what you need to compete in this league. There's a gap between the Premier League and the Championship in that regard, especially considering the type of team we believe we need to be. You have to be able to compete physically, whether it's running, tackling, or stature. Set-pieces are also something we paid close attention to during our recruitment process."
Lampard also discussed the changes he has undergone since his last stint as a Premier League manager. The 48-year-old coach had a temporary spell at Chelsea three years ago. "Having gone through various challenges in my coaching career, both good and bad, I think I'm in a better place now, not getting too high and not getting too low, just continuing to focus on my job. I'm better at doing that now than I used to be."
