According to the Manchester Evening News, Brighton & Hove Albion CEO Paul Barber has admitted that the club would consider "reasonable" offers for midfielder Caicedo.

Last summer, Brighton & Hove Albion valued Caicedo at over £100 million. Manchester United were interested in signing the 22-year-old at the time, but were not prepared to meet the asking price in a transfer window where other positions were prioritized.

However, Manchester United have rekindled their interest in Caicedo this summer, making an initial offer of around £60 million, plus £5 million in add-ons.

Manchester United hope to finalize the deal for a total of less than £75 million, and the statement from Brighton & Hove Albion executive Barber has sent positive signals. He stated that the club would consider "reasonable" offers for Caicedo.

When asked by talkSPORT about Manchester United's interest in Caicedo, he responded: "That's not something I can talk about right now. This time of year, our players always receive offers.

"We are, of course, interested in offers that are reasonable and make sense for us financially and economically.

"But we also always have to balance that with ensuring the squad is as strong as possible so that the team can compete in competitions like tonight [Brighton & Hove Albion will play Tromsø in the Europa Conference League].

"So for now, regarding Carlos, I don't really have much to say. Other than he is an extremely talented young midfielder who has performed very well for us, and over the past few years, he has attracted interest from some of the biggest clubs in the world. So let's see what happens next."

Manchester United have spent £85 million so far this summer, signing backup goalkeeper Dalot on a free transfer, Kouao Santos for £50 million, and Tielemans for £35 million.

If the Caicedo deal is finalized, Manchester United's total summer spending will reach approximately £160 million. Manchester United will also seek to sign a left-back before the Premier League transfer window closes on September 1.
