Mastantono was interviewed after joining Fiorentina on loan and discussed his year at Real Madrid.

Mastantono said: "At Real Madrid, we all went through a difficult season; it wasn't an easy year. But, as I've always said, these experiences help you improve and learn. They also make you realize that you can always get better and that there's always room for improvement in the world of football. This (leaving) is not revenge, but an opportunity to show what kind of player I am and to help Fiorentina."

Mastantono revealed that his conversations with Real Madrid about his departure were “very friendly and kind,” and he chose Fiorentina from among many options because their plan “impressed” him.

Mastantono stated: "I made this decision a week before the official announcement, and I am very happy."
