FIFA announced disciplinary actions regarding incidents after the FIFA World Cup final. Paredes was suspended for 10 matches, Molina for 7 matches, Gavi and Almada were each suspended for 1 match. Argentina assistant coach Ayala was suspended for 3 matches. All suspensions will be enforced in subsequent matches of the respective national teams. The Argentine Football Association was fined a total of 321,000 dollars for discrimination and racist insults, affecting match order and safety, and unsportsmanlike conduct.

FIFA Disciplinary Results Document
After a comprehensive review of the relevant cases, the FIFA Disciplinary Committee has issued the following sanctions for incidents that occurred during various matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup:
Argentine Football Association: Fined a total of 321,000 dollars for violating Article 13, paragraph 2, subparagraph c (using sports events for unsportsmanlike conduct), Article 14, paragraph 5 (team misconduct), Article 15 (discrimination and racist insults, involving discriminatory chants and gestures by supporters), and Article 17 (match order and safety) of the FIFA Disciplinary Code.
Furthermore, in light of its violation of Article 15 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code, the Argentine Football Association is ordered to limit spectator capacity to 50% for its next two home matches.
The FIFA Disciplinary Committee also ruled that:
100,000 dollars of the 321,000 US dollar fine must be used to implement anti-discrimination programs; part of the sanctions, specifically one of the two home matches and 100,000 US dollars of the fine, are suspended subject to a probationary period.
Additionally, following a report from the designated Disciplinary and Ethics Prosecutor on incidents that occurred during the Spain vs. Argentina 2026 FIFA World Cup Final held at MetLife Stadium in New York on July 19th, the FIFA Disciplinary Committee issued the following sanctions:
Paredes (player): Suspended for ten matches and fined 90,000 dollars.
Molina (player): Suspended for seven matches and fined 90,000 dollars.
Almada (player): Suspended for one match and fined 30,000 dollars.
Ayala (team official): Suspended for three matches and fined 30,000 dollars.
Gavi (player): Suspended for one match and fined 30,000 dollars.
In accordance with Article 69, paragraph 2, subparagraph a, and paragraph 3 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code, the aforementioned suspensions will carry over to subsequent matches of the relevant representative teams.
All involved parties were notified today of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee's decision. In accordance with the relevant provisions of the FIFA Disciplinary Code, parties may request the full reasoned decision within ten days; if requested, the decision will subsequently be published. In accordance with Article 61 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code, the above decision may be appealed.
