According to Globo Esporte, Saturday’s match against Espanyol will mark Vinicius’ ninth season with Real Madrid. Despite being only 26 years old, the Brazilian forward is now the most-capped player and leading scorer in Real Madrid’s current squad.

Real Madrid describes Vinicius as “one of the most important players during one of the most successful periods in the club’s history.” Vinicius joined Real Madrid in July 2018 at the age of 18. In his eight seasons with the club, he has played 375 matches, scored 128 goals, and won 14 trophies. Recently, the atacante renewed his contract with Real Madrid until 2032.

Based on these statistics, Vinicius is currently the most-capped player and top scorer in Real Madrid's current squad. Uruguayan midfielder Federico Valverde joined Real Madrid in the 2016/17 season, but initially played for the B team, Real Madrid Castilla, before being loaned to Deportivo La Coruña for a season. He made his first-team debut in the 2018/19 season.

Vinicius has witnessed the departure of several Real Madrid stars in recent years, including Sergio Ramos, Casemiro, Benzema, Kroos, Modrić, Marcelo, Nacho, and, most recently, Carvajal. The Brazilian forward is now Real Madrid’s second captain, behind Valverde, while goalkeeper Courtois is the third captain.
