RB Leipzig coach Marco Demikelis responded in an interview to rumors that Christopher Nkunku could return to the club.

When asked whether Nkunku was close to joining RB Leipzig, Demikelis said: “These are just rumors, and I don’t comment on rumors.”

When asked whether he would be interested in coaching Nkunku, Demikelis said: "He is a very good player, but my job is to coach the players I have, and I am very happy with the current squad. I am in daily contact with sporting director Marcel Schäfer. There are still a few days until the transfer window closes—let's see what happens. Some players may arrive, and some may leave."

When asked whether he could confirm that Nkunku preferred Leipzig over Newcastle, Demikelis said: "You should ask him that question, not me."

When asked why the club would want to bring Nkunku back after three disappointing seasons, Demikelis said: "As I said, these are not questions you should ask me."
