MilanNews.it reported that Milan coach Ruben Amorim attended a press conference before the match against Venezia, ahead of the second round of the Serie A Enilive 2026/27 season. The following are excerpts from his remarks.

When asked about Maignan following a busy summer transfer window, Amorim said: "One thing I've learned is that I have to see it with my own eyes to make an accurate judgment. I've spoken with him, and he's a player who's committed to this project and a natural leader. He pays great attention to detail, demands high standards, and we want him to stay here. I can see that he's very happy with the new goalkeeping coach. I know there's a lot of discussion about him on social media, but in training he performs like a true leader, which makes it clear to me that he's very happy here."

Regarding the recurring problem of inconsistent performances in the league, similar to Milan's loss to Cremonese at San Siro last season, Amorim said: "For me, that's the key issue. You can't stay focused in big matches but lose that same focus when facing opponents that are considered easier. I don't know if it was an attitude problem, since I wasn't here at the time. We can't be one team when we play Inter and a different team when we play other opponents. If we stay focused, we can beat any opponent; if we can't maintain that consistency, we might even lose to a Serie B team. We must always treat every opponent as if they're the best team in the world."
