On August 29 (CEST), Alan Shearer updated his personal column. The legendary former English striker is very optimistic about Chelsea's prospects for this season.

On Chelsea's attacking trio of João Pedro, Palmer and Morgan Rogers
Palmer delivered an outstanding performance in Chelsea's opening match of the season. We all know his quality, but last season, due to injuries or other reasons, we didn't see him perform at this level very often.
His display this season has been encouraging. From the way he receives the ball, his ease in dribbling, to his comfort on the ball, all of this has filled Chelsea fans with hope and worried other teams. If Chelsea has an excellent season, he will certainly be a key figure.
I also believe Palmer has trustworthy teammates in Morgan Rogers and João Pedro. If this trio can integrate and perform consistently as they did against Fulham, they will be a serious threat to other teams in the Premier League.
From my personal experience, the best partners I've ever worked with always clicked naturally, without any need for adjustment. Whether it was Sheringham, Les Ferdinand, or Chris Sutton, the chemistry simply came naturally. What's concerning for other teams is that the chemistry between these three seems to have emerged immediately. This isn't surprising, as Rogers and Palmer will have plenty of freedom, and combined with Pedro's ability, technically—whether it's holding the ball back to goal, receiving it with a half-turn, or other dribbling moves—they possess extremely strong technical capabilities.
Before Chelsea's opening match of the season, I predicted they would finish second in the Premier League. For Chelsea, not competing in European competitions is an advantage. So yes, I believe Chelsea will be the team best positioned to challenge Arsenal.
Chelsea need to strengthen the goalkeeper position
Everyone will see Chelsea has spent a lot of money, but there's still a problem with the goalkeeper, who should have performed better in Monday night's match against Fulham. The manager will try his best to protect him, but perhaps after the Fulham match, the need for Chelsea to act has been emphasized, and whether they will act remains to be seen.
Newcastle's new season ahead
Newcastle delivered an outstanding performance in their opening Premier League match against Liverpool, with Vlasic's display particularly impressive. Last season was a very disappointing one for both Newcastle and Vlasic personally, but he had a fairly good World Cup, and I thought he performed extremely well against Liverpool.
I also believe that if Newcastle can sign a few more new players this week, along with Vlasic rediscovering his form and staying healthy, who knows what the future might bring. Nico Gonzalez is a good signing, and it wouldn't be bad if they could also sign another striker.
Looking ahead to the new Champions League season
I expect there to be more exciting Champions League moments this season. For me, I have to mention the two most memorable Champions League moments. First is Newcastle's victory over Paris Saint-Germain at St. James' Park. The atmosphere before the match was very tense, everyone was filled with anticipation that night, and for Newcastle, facing such a strong team was certainly a special challenge.
Another moment that certainly made an impression on me was Liverpool's comeback against Barcelona at Anfield in the second leg, after being down 3-0 away in the first leg. I provided live commentary that day, and I have to say, the atmosphere at that time was perhaps the best I've ever witnessed.
