Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich made his comeback in Friday night's 5-1 thrashing of Stuttgart, ending an 84-day injury layoff, and he gave an interview after the match.

Kimmich came on as a substitute in the 84th minute of this Bundesliga match.
After the match, Kimmich spoke about his injury recovery. His rehabilitation period lasted 12 weeks, which is quite long for a tear in the anterior thigh muscle of his left leg.
Kimmich said, "I'm very, very happy to be back. It was a very, very difficult process—initially more mentally challenging, and then more physically challenging."
The injury also forced Kimmich to miss the World Cup. During his recovery, in addition to the help from his family, girlfriend, and Bayern Munich staff, his teammates also supported him.
Kimmich stated, "The team was very, very supportive of me. The staff also helped me very well during this difficult period. Therefore, I was eventually able to return well."
Before the injury, Kimmich played 39 official matches for Bayern Munich last season, scoring 9 goals and providing 7 assists. He won over fans with his dynamic style of play. His brief appearance against Stuttgart was an important first step towards regaining his best form.
Kimmich hopes to be called up by Klopp
So, what is Kimmich's current physical condition?
Kimmich said, "Certainly not 100% yet, but I feel like I'm close to 90%."
Despite this, Kimmich still hopes that the new German national team coach, Jürgen Klopp, will call him up for the upcoming Nations League matches. Germany will play the Netherlands on September 24, Greece on September 27, and Serbia on October 1 and 4.
Kimmich said, "I hope I can be selected. I'm working very hard to get myself fully healthy. Then we'll see what the national coach Klopp decides."
Regardless, this comeback against Stuttgart is already Kimmich's first step back on track.
