Manchester Evening News has rated Manchester United's players following their victory over Ipswich Town, with Bruno Fernandes unsurprisingly receiving the highest rating and Luke Shaw the lowest.

Onana: Made two excellent saves in the first half before eventually being beaten. When United were under pressure, he made a timely block to deny Davies a second goal. 7

Dalot: Came close with a left-footed shot. His overall defending was solid, though he was beaten by Maeda once. He performed better in the attacking third during the second half and provided several good crosses. 7

Maguire: Had a poor first half but found his rhythm in the second. His goal was fortunate; it would have been disallowed had his shot not been deflected. 6

Lisandro Martinez: His passing demonstrated his influence on the team, consistently delivering the ball cleanly to midfielders and forwards. 7

Shaw: Was troubled by Fatawu. He stepped up early for the conceded goal and then lacked pace in recovering. United need competition at left-back. 5

Tielemans: Good passing and strong understanding with Mainoo, though the team lacks a true number 6. He would be more comfortable if United could control the match as they did in the second half. 7

Mainoo: One has to wonder what Tuchel will think seeing him play like this. He was excellent on the ball—creative and composed—and tenacious without it. He played deeper than Tielemans and showed defensive solidity. 8

Mbumo: Lost concentration to allow Davies to score, and failed to learn the lesson, nearly allowing the left-back a second. However, his performance improved as the match progressed. 7

Bruno Fernandes: Played unremarkably before scoring in the first half, then became unstoppable. United's third goal came from his finish, and his long-range shot from midfield showed his confidence. 9

Rashford: A very energetic display. This is classic Rashford—full of enthusiasm and aggression driving forward, and diligent in tracking back. 8

Cunha: Played more like a striker than last week. He won a penalty and set up Bruno's opening goal with a fine pass, and his movement was excellent. 7

Mazraoui: A solid performance filling in at left-back. 6

Yoro: Returned to action at right-back. 6

Santos: Replaced Mainoo late in the match. 6

Dorgu: Limited time on the pitch to make much of an impact. 6

Sesko: Came on late as a substitute. 6

Unused substitutes: Darlow, Heaven, Lacey, Zirkzee
