On September 2nd, during the second leg of the Brazilian Cup quarter-finals between Santos and Palmeiras, Neymar complained of pain in his right leg following a challenge with an opponent and was unable to continue, being substituted off.

This is Neymar's third injury this year. The most recent one occurred in May during a Brazilian League match, when Neymar injured his right calf. At that time, Santos FC announced it was "slight edema."
He was subsequently selected for the Brazilian team's World Cup squad for the tournament in the US, Canada, and Mexico. However, after reporting to the national team and undergoing a full medical examination, the true extent of the injury was revealed: a grade 2 muscle strain in his right calf, with a recovery period of 2 to 3 weeks.
This injury significantly disrupted Neymar's World Cup campaign. He missed all pre-tournament team training and the first two group stage matches against Morocco and Haiti. Neymar made his comeback in the crucial final group stage match against Scotland.
