Meunier told The Athletic that transfer fees have lost their meaning as a measure of a player's value.

Meunier, who was a teammate of Bouaddi at Lille, has no doubts about the talent of the new Manchester City midfielder. On the contrary, the 35-year-old Belgian no longer wants to measure a player's value by transfer fees. After Bouhaddi's €100 million transfer to Manchester City, he expressed strong criticism of the current developments in the transfer market.

Meunier said: "Bouaddi is too good. But we no longer need to talk about money, because everything has lost its logic. You can buy a donkey for £200 million, or you can buy a very good player for £20 million. It makes absolutely no sense anymore."
