Bayern Munich president Hainer has discussed Eberl's contract extension and expressed optimism about renewing the contract of another director, Freund.

In late August, Bayern Munich extended the contracts of sporting director Eberl and CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen until 2029. In May, there was no clear indication that Eberl's contract would be extended.
Before Bayern Munich's DFB-Pokal final against Stuttgart, Uli Hoeneß had stated that the likelihood of Eberl's contract extension was "60-40" and said he still had doubts about Eberl.
During the "80 Years of Bayern Basketball – Never Stop" event, Hainer defended club president emeritus Hoeneß.
Hainer firmly denied that Eberl's contract extension had been dragged out. He stated: "If you say the matter went back and forth for a long time, I completely disagree. You kept writing about it in the media. We always said we would make a decision in August, and we made a decision in August."
Hainer also said: "As for who you were discussing contract extensions with and for how long, that's your business, not ours. We addressed the matter very clearly in the supervisory board, we made a decision in August, and we extended both contracts by two years."
Regarding Hoeneß's "60-40" comment, Hainer stated that Hoeneß made it because the media kept asking him about it. He also said that Bayern Munich's supervisory board has always fulfilled its duties firmly and responsibly, and the club has acted accordingly.
Hainer revealed that director of sport Freund's contract extension is also progressing. He stated: "The board is handling this. I'm very confident that Freund will renew his contract."
