Guadalajara’s president Amaury Vergara said that until the coronavirus pandemic is over, they will readjust their first team players' salary from now on.

More teams in the Liga MX are deciding to readjust the salaries of the players from their first team during this coronavirus pandemic. The economy is taking a big hit and the leagues around the planet are doing the same thing during this crisis. On Friday Chivas was one of the teams in Mexico who decided to readjust wages.

So starting in April and until the pandemic is over, all the players and coaches from the first team from Chivas will suffer a pay cut in their salaries. With this decision the club can afford to pay the rest of the employees that need the money more than the footballers.

“We are facing one of the biggest challenges in our lifetime, not only people are getting sick and dying, but some don’t have enough money to buy the essentials. The economy is taking a big hit during this coronavirus pandemic,” said Vergara on Twitter.

“I want to thank all the players from the first team from Chivas that have agreed to take a pay cut in their salary during this crisis in order for us to pay other members from our staff. This will start this month of April and end until the pandemic is over.

“This goes hand-by-hand with what the founder of Omnilife group and previous owner of Chivas, Jorge Vergara, would want in times like this. The philosophy in this franchise has always been helping others and taking care of our people. Mexico lets unite,” finalized Vergara.

The Liga MX has not set a date to return just yet and this has affected all the clubs because money from sponsors is not coming in during the Covid-19 pandemic. Also since there are no games people are not paying their ticket to go to the stadium and this is affecting the economy of the teams.
