Group F: Urawa Red Diamonds 1-0 Shanghai SIPG

Rafael Silva’s first-half strike helped Urawa Red Diamonds leapfrog Shanghai SIPG into pole position in Group F of the AFC Champions League following a 1-0 victory in a game that saw the visitors' Oscar miss a pair of penalties.

Silva (pictured) established himself as Urawa's key threat inside the first 60 seconds at Saitama Stadium as he struck the post, and the Brazilian managed to settle his sights a minute before half-time with a pinpoint effort stabbed into the bottom corner of the net.

Shanghai, minus their injured talisman Hulk, came out all guns blazing in the second-half and kept Urawa penned back for long periods, but Oscar missed the chance to pull them level in the 65th minute as his penalty was saved by Shusaku Nishikawa.

The Brazil international was given a chance to redeem himself from 12 yards 11 minutes later after a Tomoaki Makino handball but was again unable to find the target, this time firing his effort over the bar as the hosts held out.

The victory allowed Urawa to move level with Shanghai on nine points, with the J.League side just ahead on goal difference with two games to play. Both teams need just a point to advance to the knockout round after FC Seoul defeated Western Sydney Wanderers 3-2 in Tuesday's other Group F encounter to leave the sides six points adrift of the top two.

Group F: Western Sydney Wanderers 2-3 FC Seoul
A brace from Dejan Damjanovic helped FC Seoul to a 3-2 win over Western Sydney Wanderers in Group F of the AFC Champions League on Tuesday as the K League side avoided a defeat that would have seen them eliminated.

Lee Seok-hyun (pictured, second right) gave the visitors the lead on four minutes at Campbelltown Sports Stadium with a rocket from 25 yards after Western Sydney failed to deal with a free-kick, before Damjanovic doubled their lead from the penalty spot as half-time approached following a pull on Maurinho.

When Damjanovic added a second in the 71st minute, the game appeared over as a contest. But Terry Antonis pulled one back with 15 minutes remaining following fine play from Jumpei Kusukami, and Lachlan Scott added an injury-time header to bring the hosts within striking distance.

However the rally was to prove too little too late for Western Sydney as FC Seoul held on to secure their first points of the continental campaign and keep alive their slim hopes of reaching the knockout stage.

Group H: Jiangsu FC 3-0 Gamba Osaka

An Alex Teixeira-inspired Jiangsu FC became the first side to progress to the AFC Champions League Round of 16 on Tuesday, cruising past Gamba Osaka 3-0 at Nanjing Olympic Sports Center to finish as Group H winners thanks to first-half goals from Teixeira, fellow Brazilian Ramires, and Hong Jeong-ho.

Choi Yong-soo’s side established control of the game in just the third minute, as Teixeira (pictured) stole in to seize possession from Yasuhito Endo before advancing and tucking beyond Gamba goalkeeper Masaaki Higashiguchi.

Ramires doubled Jiangsu’s lead four minutes later, capitalising on more hesitant Gamba defending to prod home from close range, before Hong headed in a Teixeira free kick to make it 3-0 in the 43rd minute.

Neither team could add to the scoring in the second-half, but Jiangsu knew they had already done more than enough to seal a fourth straight win and ensure their passage to the knockout round for the first time.

Although the defeat saw Gamba drop to the bottom of Group H on three points they remain in with a chance of going through with Jiangsu after Adelaide United beat Jeju United 3-1 earlier in the evening in Jeju to move level with the Korea Republic side on four points.

GROUP H: JEJU UNITED 1-3 ADELAIDE UNITED

Adelaide United kept their 2017 AFC Champions League hopes alive on Tuesday evening with a 3-1 away victory over Jeju United in Group H.

Kim Jae-Sung gave Adelaide the lead after just seven minutes at Jeju World Cup Stadium with a powerful drive from outside the area, before the hosts immediately struck back through a Magno Cruz header.

However, following a first-half of pressure from Jeju, Adelaide’s Dylan McGowan rose highest from a corner just four minutes after the interval to restore the visitors’ advantage.

With 25 minutes remaining, Riley McGee then scrambled home a third to wrap up what was ultimately a comfortable three points for the Australian side and keep the race for qualification from Group H wide open.
