In the latest episode of the podcast "The Good, The Bad and The Football," Manchester United legends Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt initially criticized the club for failing to strengthen the attack, before the discussion turned to Sesko's injury.

Sesko has been dealing with a shin injury since joining Manchester United. He missed Sunday's match against Fulham, and Carrick was unable to determine the severity of the injury. Sesko is expected to undergo assessment this week to determine his treatment plan.

Scholes joked that Sesko should "wear a shin guard," while Butt stated firmly: "Either he's broken his shin or he needs to get on the pitch."

Butt said: "Defense is a major issue, but for me, the biggest problem is the number 9 position. How does Manchester United have only one striker? And he's injured—what kind of injury is that, a shin injury?"

Scholes replied: "How do you get a shin injury? Is it a crack? Can't he wear a shin guard?"

Butt continued: "Either he's broken his shin or he needs to play. Wear a shin guard, or protect yourself. I don't fully understand. It's difficult to discuss without knowing exactly what's going on."

With Sesko unavailable, Carrick deployed Cunha as the striker. Butt criticized the lack of depth in this position.

Butt stated: "Playing Cunha at number 9 is ruining him. When he plays centrally, he's not the same player as when he plays out wide. Apart from Sesko, we don't have a genuine number 9. Zirkzee is another option, but his situation is always coming, going, coming, going.

"And when he comes on from the bench, he doesn't look like a Manchester United number 9 at all.

"In midfield, we have some talented players, but they can't control the game. The back line looks like an ordinary defense. The right-back—can he help you finish in the top two or three? No. Maguire is past his peak. Lisandro Martinez is a good player, but he's not a dominant center-back. As for Luke Shaw, we all know his situation—he plays three or four matches, then gets injured, then comes back."
