Olise has recently faced criticism from some quarters for declining an interview with Sky Germany. German football legend Lothar Matthäus believes that people should focus on Bayern Munich star Olise's character and his on-pitch performances, which matter far more than post-match interviews.

Matthäus said: "I think it's completely normal for Olise to do this. If he doesn't want to speak, why should he? Should he be the centre of attention just because we want him to talk? He doesn't want that—it's simply not in his nature. People like me can chat away comfortably in front of the cameras, but Olise would rather be somewhere he feels comfortable after a match."

"His comfort zone may not be in front of a microphone or camera, but rather with the people around him, and I have absolutely no problem with that. As long as he plays football the way he does, he can wear whatever he wants and skip any microphone, because for me, his performances on the pitch are far more compelling than any interview could ever be."
