Gonçalo Ramos stated in an interview with RTP that scoring goals gives him confidence whether he starts or comes off the bench, and he feels he has earned his place in the team.

Ramos said: "Scoring goals always gives me confidence, whether I'm starting or coming off the bench. The most important thing is to play and feel like part of the team. What matters more than starting is feeling the trust of the coach and my teammates. Have I earned my place? I think so; it was a good performance, I scored the winning goal, and the team won on a difficult pitch. Perhaps that question should be directed to the coach, but in my opinion, yes."

The Portugal forward also discussed the new national team coach, Jorge Jesus, and the differences between him and his predecessor, Roberto Martínez.

Ramos stated: "You just need to watch the games to see the difference. With limited training time available, it's basically more about recovery and absorbing information rather than applying that information on the pitch, because we don't have very long training sessions. The biggest difference is that we press higher and try to put pressure on the opponent."
