According to Samuel Luckhurst, Manchester United correspondent for The Athletic, Manchester United has contacted the Portuguese Football Federation to inquire about Bruno Fernandes' physical condition after he missed the match against Norway.

The reporter also revealed that Bruno Fernandes had been playing through pain before joining the Portuguese national team.

Bruno Fernandes remained with the Portuguese national team despite missing their 2-1 Nations League victory over Norway. He was not included in the match squad on Sunday evening due to physical issues.

This marks only the 10th time Fernandes has been excluded from a national team squad since his first call-up in August 2017.

Sources indicate that Manchester United contacted the Portuguese Football Federation after Fernandes missed the match against Norway. Fernandes had previously featured in Thursday's 1-0 win against Wales.

Fernandes previously had to make a "miraculous recovery" to start for Manchester United in recent Premier League matches. He has played the full 90 minutes in all five of Manchester United's league matches this season and completed the full match in their 4-0 Champions League victory over Qarabağ.

Against the Azerbaijani side, Manchester United were already 3-0 up by halftime, but Fernandes still played the entire match despite facing Manchester City just three days later.

In the League Cup match against Brighton, Manchester United lost 3-2 after conceding three goals despite holding a 2-0 lead. Michael Carrick brought Fernandes off the bench in the 73rd minute.

Since joining Manchester United from Sporting CP in January 2020, Fernandes has missed only six Manchester United matches due to injury or physical discomfort.

Portugal will play Denmark on Thursday, followed by a home match against Norway on Sunday, before players return to their respective clubs.

Sekou Kone has returned to Manchester United for assessment. He was forced off due to injury after 29 minutes in Denmark's 2-0 victory over Wales on Sunday evening.

Kone started for Manchester United at the beginning of the season but was substituted at halftime when the team was 2-0 down away to Hull City.

The 21-year-old subsequently regained his starting spot in the Manchester derby on September 13 but was back on the bench for Manchester United's 1-1 draw with Fulham.

Last week, two more Manchester United players were called up to their national teams. Yoro replaced Konaté in the French squad, and Zirkzee was recalled to the Dutch national team due to Brobbey's injury.
