Brighton owner Tony Bloom says "anything is possible" as the club target silverware following a stunning start to the 2026-27 season.

Brighton are currently third in the Premier League with 10 points, having lost just one of their matches so far (W3 D1).

They have also secured their place in the Conference League after winning their play-off, with their European campaign beginning next month.

And Brighton are also through to the fourth round of the EFL Cup after a superb 3-2 comeback win over Manchester United after going 2-0 down in the opening 10 minutes.

The Seagulls entered the international break with another statement result, thrashing reigning Premier League champions Arsenal 3-0, and Bloom has aspirations of emulating Leicester City's fairytale this season.

"The biggest teams in the league have a massive financial advantage, but in any one season, anything can happen, as you saw with Leicester City, so it's good to have dreams and goals for us as a club, and also for our fans," Bloom told Sky Sports.

"It's really difficult for teams outside those top six to win the Premier League.

“But anything is possible.

"We're after a major trophy, so obviously any major trophy would be a massive achievement for the football club.

"The Premier League is the bread and butter, and we're really optimistic that we can at least finish in the European places if not a bit higher than that."

Brighton are the highest goalscorers in the Premier League this season, with their 16 goals the most by a side in their first five games since Manchester City in 2022-23 (19).

No player has been involved in more top-flight goals this term than Pascal Gross (six – three goals, three assists), after he scored and assisted against Arsenal.

Fabian Hurzeler, who extended his contract through to 2029 back in May, has also been key to their current dominance, and Bloom was full of praise for his head coach, who led Brighton to an eighth-place finish last term.

"I have huge confidence in Fabian and our group of players," he said.

"As you say, we had 10 players out for most of August, so we've got some key players coming back, with some expected to return after the international break.

"It's very early to start predicting anything, but as Fabian always says, we've got to get the process right. We've got to prepare properly and always look to improve in every aspect of what we do. If we consistently do that, we have a very good chance of having a successful season.

"He's had to cope with lots of different situations in each of the two seasons, including a couple of bad runs when there would have been pressure on him.

"There's always pressure on elite head coaches at elite football clubs in elite football leagues, but he's come through both those situations extremely well.

"We, as a club, have helped him where we can, but he has had to do most of it himself. He's brought the players through with him and, now in his third year, he's gaining a huge amount of experience. I expect him to go from strength to strength."
