Former Napoli sporting director Carlo Jacomuzzi discussed the team's current situation and the development of young Italian players.

Napoli is about to face a particularly busy month, with nine matches remaining after the international break, which could significantly impact an important part of the season. Jacomuzzi stated: "The league is still long, and things can change. The league is very long, and anything can happen. There will be wet pitches, rain, ice, perhaps even snow and injuries. You will find that the situation can level out on one side or the other. So, the trend can still be reversed."

Jacomuzzi believes that the Serie A standings can change rapidly: "In our league, two matches are enough to change the situation. An away game played poorly, ending in a draw; a home game without scoring, also ending in a draw. This way you only get 2 points, while other teams get 6 points. After two matches, everyone is back in contention again."

Regarding the development of young Italian players, Jacomuzzi said: "You have to work hard, every day, to help young players continuously improve, to accompany them, supervise them, and help them grow mentally and football-wise. Unfortunately, it's very hard."

Jacomuzzi particularly pointed to the excessive number of foreign players: "Blowing the whistle is for giving orders, not for teaching, and that's the problem. Italy has forgotten this, and instead chooses to bring in all sorts of foreign players from all directions, harming our young players, and that's the reality." He added: "If you look at our U16, U17, U18, U19 teams, they are all playing, and playing well, and able to express themselves, but once they get close to the first team, there are 10 foreign players at each level, and that's the problem."

Jacomuzzi believes that clubs should be more patient with young players: "Continuing to trust these young players would be very helpful, and also having a bit more courage when promoting them, continuing to trust them even if they have two or three bad games afterwards."

Discussing the Serie A title race, Jacomuzzi said: "I don't see any team that will say, 'come chase me, I'm gone.' Everyone is still fighting." He believes that as the crucial stage of the season approaches, the situation could continue to change: "From late February to April will be another matter, because everyone will look back. Getting that extra point is enough to improve your ranking. So I think our league will be difficult to stabilize until early May."
