According to Mundo Deportivo, Real Madrid is confident that UEFA will sanction Barcelona in connection with the Negreira case, believing that the club's submission of over 50,000 pages of documentation is sufficient for UEFA to take disciplinary action.

From Real Madrid's perspective, UEFA's confirmation that it has received documents related to the Negreira case is far more significant than merely adding this information to the investigation proceedings that were initiated in 2023. However, UEFA does not intend to conclude this investigation until there is a ruling in the legal proceedings currently underway in Spain.
Real Madrid believes that the over 50,000-page report submitted by the club on June 17 will be the key to prompting UEFA to act against Barcelona. According to Real Madrid's assessment, UEFA now has the necessary information about the case that was previously lacking, and this data deficiency was the reason the earlier investigation stalled and made no progress. This documentation is sufficient for UEFA to act under applicable regulations. These regulations allow for measures to be taken against clubs that directly or indirectly engage in activities aimed at manipulating or influencing the outcome of domestic or international matches. As a result, Barcelona could face a ban from competing in the Champions League for one season and be subject to corresponding financial penalties.
Furthermore, Real Madrid also believes that Barcelona's payments to the influential refereeing official's deputy over more than 15 years constitute a serious violation of UEFA's Code of Ethics. Disciplinary sanctions and legal proceedings are independent and do not conflict with each other. A conviction in legal proceedings does not necessarily lead to disciplinary sanctions; conversely, even if a criminal case is ultimately dismissed, there may still be sufficient grounds for disciplinary action in the sporting sphere. One avenue does not preclude the other.
Real Madrid has participated in Spanish legal proceedings related to the Negreira case and is currently awaiting the outcome of these proceedings. At the same time, the club hopes that UEFA will impose disciplinary sanctions against Barcelona and believes this report provides sufficient grounds for such punishment.
