Cadena SER reported that the first extended international break resulted in at least 60 players across Europe's top five leagues suffering injuries or discomfort during national team training camps and matches. The Premier League was the most affected, with 16 players, including Mbappé, Raphinha, Ferran Torres, and Nico Williams.

This tally includes first-team players from clubs in Europe's top five leagues. Any player who experienced injury, impact, or discomfort during national team training or matches—whether for senior national teams or youth teams at various levels—was counted.

Therefore, physical issues encountered by Espanyol player Javier Hernández and Sevilla player Fran González during Spain's U21 training camp, as well as the first-half injuries sustained by Lille player Ethan Mbappé and Paris Saint-Germain player Mayulu during France's U21 match against Estonia, were also included in the statistics.

The Premier League was the most impacted league with 16 players affected, followed by Serie A with 14, La Liga with 13, Ligue 1 with 9, and the Bundesliga with 8.

13 La Liga players affected, including several key players

A total of 13 La Liga players experienced physical problems during this international break, including Mbappé, Konaté, Raphinha, and Nico Williams.

Real Madrid's Mbappé and Konaté both returned from the French national team with physical issues, while Barcelona is monitoring the situations of Raphinha and Eric García. Raphinha was substituted at halftime during the match against Australia due to right thigh discomfort, later diagnosed with mild muscle edema, and withdrew from the national team training camp. Subsequent examinations ruled out more serious injuries.

Athletic Club player Nico Williams was unable to complete Spain's training camp due to muscle issues, and Atlético Madrid player Grimaldo similarly had to withdraw from the Spanish squad.

Getafe player Martín Satriano left the Uruguay squad early due to a knee problem, while Celta Vigo had three players affected: Ristić, Starfelt, and Cáceres. Real Betis player Firpo also returned injured after suffering an adductor injury in his left thigh while playing for the Dominican Republic.

The remaining two are Javier Hernández of Espanyol and Fran González of Sevilla, both of whom experienced physical problems during Spain's U21 training camp. This brings the total number of La Liga first-team players who faced physical setbacks during this international break to 13.

Premier League most affected

The Premier League topped the list with 16 players affected. This includes Arsenal's Havertz and Tomiyasu, Liverpool's Isak and Gakpo, Manchester United's Dögu and Mazraoui, Brentford's Damsgaard, Bournemouth's Alex Scott, and Sunderland's Brobbey and Ballard.

Manchester City's Ó. Ó. O'Reilly and Haaland also experienced physical problems during national team matches. Haaland asked to be substituted during Portugal's match against Norway due to fatigue and muscle discomfort, but the situation is not serious, and he will participate in this weekend's match.

Additionally, Jeremy Jacquet, Konsa, and Dutch players Van Hecke and Van de Ven also suffered physical issues. Van de Ven's hand was heavily stepped on during the Netherlands' match against Serbia, forcing him to leave the field early, but this did not result in serious consequences.

Ligue 1 had 9 players affected, including Ferran Torres

A total of 9 Ligue 1 players were affected, including Spanish international Ferran Torres. He currently plays for Paris Saint-Germain and is therefore counted on the Ligue 1 list. He withdrew from the Spanish national team training camp due to persistent discomfort in his left ankle.

His club teammate Mayulu also experienced physical problems during this international break while representing France U21. Lille player Ethan Mbappé had a similar situation, with both being substituted in the first half of France U21's match against Estonia.

Højbjerg, Derrick Cornelius, Himad Abdelli, Gouiri, Golovin, and Amadou Haidara are the other six Ligue 1 players affected.

Additionally, Ben Seghir of Bayer Leverkusen, Vermeeren and Nusa of RB Leipzig, Can Uzun of Eintracht Frankfurt, and Wanner of Borussia Mönchengladbach also experienced physical problems. Wanner was affected during Germany's U21 training camp.

This 16-day international break ultimately resulted in 60 players across the top five leagues suffering physical problems, averaging 12 players per league. This weekend, clubs will resume their league campaigns, which have been paused since mid-September.
