After returning to his club, Japan international Junya Ito spoke with Japanese media.

On his performance

"I rarely miss corner kicks, and I was in good form. It wouldn't have been surprising to have two assists. I want to deliver results."

On defender Amaro

"He has a lot of drive. He's the type who likes to push forward, so I want to help him make an impact through passing combinations and runs."

On playing for the Japanese national team

"I play with the idea of creating different attacking options. I can only play the position I'm assigned. In games like the one against New Zealand, there wasn't much need for defensive work, so I could play freely."

During the national team activities, I read that you said "my form is the best it's ever been."

"That's right. My training is also the best every year."

Can you clarify what you mean by "my training is the best every year"?

"Since I started playing football in first grade, the years I've been playing have just kept adding up. It's about that accumulation. I think the longer you play, the better you get at football."

So in four years, at 37, you'll be in even better form?

"No, no (laughs). It would be great if I could keep improving."

On the Asian Cup

"Hajime Moriyasu is definitely leaving. So I want to win the Asian Cup."
