Mikayil Faye is only 22 years old, but his career has already experienced significant ups and downs. His most prominent period was at Barcelona, where his performances for the B team quickly made him a rising star. Faye possesses exceptional physical attributes, combining speed and explosiveness with elegant footwork, which raised high expectations for his promotion to the first team. However, things changed: Xavi ultimately decided not to rely on him, opting instead for Cubarsí; Flick also gave him very limited opportunities during his tenure, only in pre-season.

Barcelona eventually decided to sell the centre-back. The club initially spent around 2 million euros on him and later sold him to Rennes for more than 10 million euros. For Faye, Rennes seemed like an ideal destination: a Ligue 1 club that values young talent. However, he never managed to establish himself at the French club. Subsequent loans at Cremonese and Nuremberg also failed to revive his career. In fact, two months after joining the German club, he still hasn't made his competitive debut, partly due to physical issues.

Andy Bara, the agent of players including Joan Garcia, Olmo, and Faye, explains the centre-back's situation and discusses what he believes are the factors affecting Faye's career path. "You see players like Mika Faye, who comes from Africa," Bara begins, illustrating that talent alone is not always enough.

He continues: "We did everything: brought him to Custodio, then sold him to Barcelona. He has great talent, but I think he progressed too quickly and didn't appreciate the opportunity given to him. If you leave home without the right mindset, we cannot help you sort all of this out."

Bara also speaks about Barcelona's current squad and one of the keys to their success: the character of their players. He says: "Sometimes you feel it's embedded in their DNA: Olmo left Barcelona and then came back. Barcelona has many good young players: Lamine Yamal, Rodri... Olmo, Lewandowski, Joan Garcia. They are all humble and level-headed. They are great players, among the best in the world, but I think what's more important is the human element in the dressing room that also gives extra support to this team."
