In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, former Juventus and Napoli player Massimo Mauro discussed the tactical problems facing Milan, coached by Amorim, and Juventus, coached by Spalletti.

"In my opinion, Amorim and Spalletti face similar issues. When they encounter a compact defense, their teams often perform quite poorly. The difficulty stems from their constant desire to build offensive plays around wingers, who never cross and never pass the ball to the center forward. All they do is cut inside and shoot, but if they only score 4 goals a year, they won't get far. Juventus and Milan's only offensive option is their wingers: if they don't contribute, there's no way forward in attack. For instance, in Juventus's match against Cagliari, only Alajbegovic created two or three scoring chances after coming on as a substitute, because he delivered two decent crosses. Overall, these are good players, but they cannot be the core of the team's offense."
What are Milan and Juventus's biggest flaws? A lack of quality players in the final third. The overall quality of both teams in that area is quite average. Neither Amorim's team nor Spalletti's team shows much inclination to penetrate defenses. For example, Douglas Luiz is too methodical a player; he never takes risks, only makes short passes, and offers no solutions against a compact defense. Juventus also has to contend with Yıldız's absence, which shouldn't be an excuse, but he is undoubtedly the most important player in the squad. Therefore, in my view, Roma is clearly more competitive than Milan and Juventus. Even Napoli, despite their poor start, is in a similar position."
