JDT will play Buriram United as part of their preparation for the upcoming season, and also as a part of future collaboration with the Thai club.

MSL champions, Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) will play a friendly game against Thai League side, Buriram United as part of their preparations for the new season.

JDT, in an effort to continue their extensive partnership with football clubs around the region and other parts of the world, are set to continue their development in football together with Buriram United.

According to Alistair Edwards, JDT’s sports director, Buriram United share the same vision as JDT, which is to make their names more well-known, other than competing regularly in the AFC Cup or in Asian Champions League (ACL).

Edwards was quoted by JDT's social media as saying: “We are playing a friendly on January 14 as a first step in establishing a broader relationship that will bring the expertise and experience of both clubs together.”

“(Buriram United) share similar objective to JDT, we are discussing ways of raising the bar even further in South East Asian club football with the desire and vision that we both can regularly compete in the AFC Cup and ACL.”

Edwards also praised the professionalism at Buriram United, and described the enviroment at the club as similar to that of the Southern Tigers'.

“The professionalism here is top class. Mr Chidchob, the club’s chairman, is such a passionate and knowledgeable football lover.”

“The chairman’s approach and the environment here is very similar to ours at JDT, so it is easy to see why both clubs are progressing well both on and off the pitch,” added Edwards.
