According to Bild, Bayern Munich center-back Kim Min-jae treated the entire team to a Korean meal before leaving Jeju, South Korea.

After the friendly match against Jeju United on Tuesday evening, the Bundesliga champions' center-back arranged for traditional Korean fried chicken, served with various sauces and toppings, to be delivered to the team's hotel, the JW Marriott Jeju Resort & Spa. This dish is a very popular national food in Kim Min-jae's hometown.

Kim Min-jae hoped to conclude his trip to Korea with this gesture. For the local player, this trip was particularly meaningful; during the three days there, as number 3, he was also the most prominent figure in marketing activities and fan events.

Bayern Munich's Marketing Director, Rouven Kasper, stated at the beginning of the Asia tour: "In Korea, and indeed throughout Asia, the influence of local heroes is extremely significant. When we visited Seoul with Kim Min-jae in 2024, we were already greatly impressed by this effect. This influence is very strong, both in media partnerships and at the fan level."

Due to his special status on the Asia tour, Kim Min-jae was also temporarily appointed captain by coach Vincent Kompany in the friendly match against Jeju United. As planned before the match, when he was substituted in the 36th minute, the 22,500 spectators officially announced at Jeju World Cup Stadium gave him a warm round of applause.

Kim Min-jae hopes to continue playing an important role at Bayern Munich next season. Although he often served as a substitute behind Upamecano and Jonathan Tah last season, the South Korean international still stated in an interview with Bild on Monday that he wants to remain at Bayern Munich, despite interest from several top clubs.

Kim Min-jae said in Jeju: "As a player, I am very happy at Bayern Munich and very satisfied. I have played in several games, and in each one, I gave my best and left everything on the field. I hope to get more opportunities from the coach this season and stay here."
