Jurgen Klopp insisted Germany's defeat to Greece in the Nations League is "part of the process", as he took responsibility for the team selection.

Germany lost 1-0 at WWK Arena after substitute Dimitrios Kourbelis' deflected strike in the 74th minute was enough to see the visitors maintain their perfect start to Group A2.

Klopp's side won the expected goals (xG) battle 1.27 to 0.72, dominated possession (75.8%) and recorded twice as many shots as Greece (16 to eight), though could not find their way past Konstantinos Tzolakis, who made five saves.

Germany's new-look front four featured Younes Ebnoutalib, Bambase Conte and Kevin Scahde, though it was a familiar face in Karim Adeyemi who led the way in shots (three) and chances created (four).

After a 1-1 draw with the Netherlands in their campaign opener, Klopp is still waiting for his first win since succeeding Julian Nagelsmann, though the former Liverpool boss is far from concerned.

"It's part of the process. Absolutely," said Klopp after the defeat.

"The lineup, the composition, the substitutions: that's all one hundred percent my responsibility.

"It was clear that we wouldn't completely dismantle a deep-lying Greek opponent, especially in key moments where we perhaps lacked a bit of luck or their outstanding goalkeeper was there.

"I could have lived with not winning the game by a large margin, or even not winning at all, but you can't afford to lose it.

"We've only been together for a week, we're facing a deep-lying opponent, we're a newly assembled team, and then we need to have our systems in place.

"I'm sorry that the euphoria has somehow subsided... For me, that's not a problem; I just know that football needs training, football needs routines."

Germany face Serbia next on Thursday before their return fixture against Greece on October 4.
