A former Premier League captain has surprisingly become the latest retired star to join the Baller League. The five-a-side indoor football league was founded in Germany in 2024 and has since rapidly expanded globally.

Several well-known figures in English football have participated in the competition as either players or coaches, including Arsenal and Newcastle United legends Ian Wright and Alan Shearer.

Former Liverpool player Ibe and former Arsenal player Lansbury have also made appearances in the league.

Former Manchester City and England star Joleon Lescott has signed to play for Deportrio. He will now feature alongside former Burnley captain Mee.

The news of Mee joining the Baller League was announced via the league's official social media account.

Since retiring in May, Mee has been heavily involved in punditry and has not yet commented on his involvement with the Baller League.

The 37-year-old spent 10 years at Burnley after joining from Manchester City, and finished his career with spells at Brentford and Sheffield United.
