According to Foot Mercato, Ronaldo withdrew from the Portugal national team on Wednesday following a serious disagreement with head coach Jorge Jesus. He had previously been benched for the match against Norway, subsequently missed training, and his sister Elma defended him on social media.

Elma posted again today: "Revenge is a dish best served cold." She also expressed gratitude that fans were supporting Ronaldo. Reportedly, nearly 500,000 fans have unfollowed the Portugal national team's social media account.
