According to Bild, a UEFA Nations League match between Ireland and Austria was temporarily halted when Irish fans threw a tennis ball decorated with a Palestinian flag onto the pitch. The match ultimately ended in a 2-2 draw.

In the 21st minute, Irish fans threw a tennis ball onto the pitch. A fan who entered the field was immediately arrested. According to reports, the protesters deliberately chose this moment to commemorate the 21,000 child casualties in Gaza reported by aid organizations earlier this year.

On Sunday, Irish players also drew controversy following their 3-0 victory over Israel. They took a stance against the Gaza war by refusing to shake hands with Israeli players and bowing their heads during the opposing team's national anthem.
