According to L'Équipe, tickets for Messi's farewell match for Argentina against Benin are being resold for around €900, sparking controversy in Argentina.

Argentine fans are eager to attend the Monumental Stadium in Buenos Aires to witness Messi's farewell and pay tribute to him, which has created opportunities for ticket scalpers to profit. According to Argentina's La Nación, the controversy centres on influencers and entertainment figures obtaining large quantities of tickets and reselling them at prices significantly higher than official prices.
Content creator Martín Martínez (nicknamed "Chapu") previously posted resale information for Messi's farewell match tickets to over a million followers, inviting interested parties to contact him privately. He then announced prices via instant messaging, with the cheapest tickets at 600,000 pesos (approximately €350) and the most expensive at 1,550,000 pesos (approximately €900), depending on the location and stand. Official tickets for the cheapest category were around 90,000 pesos (€53). La Nación estimated that resale prices were approximately 567% of the official price.
Facing scrutiny, Martín Martínez stated in a new video that he had simply purchased tickets from a scalper and resold them for a profit of about 20,000 pesos (less than €12). The Argentine Football Association (AFA) told La Nación that it cannot rule out the possibility of fraud and counterfeit tickets, emphasizing that ticket reselling violates both Argentine law and the AFA's ethical codes.
