Piers Morgan and Simon Jordan reportedly had a heated debate on talkSPORT about who was to blame for the Ronaldo controversy, with Morgan defending Ronaldo.

Morgan was a guest on the "White & Jordan" show to discuss Ronaldo's early departure from Portugal's national team training camp. Ronaldo left the squad last week after Portugal's away victory against Norway. He did not feature in that match and later stated that he was told before kickoff he would come on as a substitute for 30 minutes, accusing head coach Jorge Jesus of breaking his word. Ronaldo is Portugal's all-time record holder for appearances and goals, with 234 caps and 146 goals for the national team.
Jordan questioned whether Ronaldo should also bear responsibility for the controversy, asking Morgan, "Could Ronaldo's behavior be a common denominator when problems arise?" Morgan replied, "No." Jordan then suggested that Ronaldo's actions might be a recurring pattern behind such problems.
Morgan hit back by asking if Jordan had ever played professional football. Jordan responded that he had owned a football club and dealt with players, calling Morgan "a good journalist sometimes." Morgan then pointed out that Jordan had played youth football in his younger days but failed to turn professional due to lack of ability.
Morgan also said he was proud of Ronaldo for having the courage to speak up for himself. He stated that with Ronaldo's career nearing its end, he wants to finish it properly, and that respect and honesty are essential to him. Morgan added that he appreciated Ronaldo's statement because it clearly laid out what happened.
