Press conference begins
It's been a long time since I've had a press conference.
You've missed this – today's going to be a long chat.
Yes, I'm ready.
Manchester City's guilty verdict has dominated headlines for the past few weeks. How significant is this for the Premier League?
Good afternoon. Indeed, a verdict has been reached, but we need to be patient and await the final ruling from the arbitration panel. I believe the arbitrators are sufficiently independent to assess the entire situation. I am not an expert in this field. Regardless of our opinions, the final decision rests with them, and we must respect it and patiently await the outcome. A conclusion will be reached, but it will likely take some more time.
You mentioned the need for patience, but from the perspective of maintaining the Premier League's credibility, do the appeals and penalties need to be finalized this season?
First, there's the appeal process, then we have to wait for the arbitration panel to announce their decision. We'll see what happens next; this is not within our control. We should respect the independence of the arbitration committee and calmly await a conclusion within the framework of the rules.
Turning back to Chelsea, it's been three weeks since the match against Brentford. What aspects have you focused on during this break?
To be honest, this international break was perhaps too long. We used this time to review our past performances, plan for upcoming matches, and treat and rehabilitate several injured players. We fully utilized this window to prepare for tomorrow's game against Bournemouth.
Tell us about the injured players' recovery. Is Caicedo available to play now?
Yes, he's ready. Everyone has been asking about him. We used this international break to help him regain his fitness, and his training has gone very well. He's available for selection.
Pedro, Reece James, and Palmer didn't have international duties over the past two weeks. How has their training been this week?
They all participated in training. Some recovered and rejoined team training earlier, as did Gusto. This was always our plan. A few players weren't in optimal physical condition against Brentford, but now their training is progressing well, and they are available to play.
Multiple key players returning from injury ahead of Bournemouth is undoubtedly a huge boost for you.
That's right. We know they are all key players with significant impact. This week's training has already shown results. Before the next international break, we have five more Premier League matches, and we hope they can maintain their form. For tomorrow's match, they are all ready.
Tuchel said Palmer missed too many games for England. What's your take on that comment? Could he have played for England over the past two weeks?
He's been training all week and feeling better physically. We didn't want to rush his return, as there was plenty of time. The most important thing for Palmer is to fully recover, enjoy playing, and not feel any discomfort. Previously, whenever he wasn't in peak physical condition, you could see he struggled. Now he's improving, and we're optimistic about his condition.
Lawrence Stewart is about to leave the club. Was this news unexpected for you? What changes will this bring to the club's sporting structure?
Firstly, we had already discussed this with the club several months ago. Lawrence has helped us tremendously, and I am very grateful to him and wish him all the best. I don't think our working system will change much. Our communication mechanisms and job responsibilities are very clear, so there won't be significant changes.
How is Gilmour doing? I saw him in the match against Kazakhstan, and he left on crutches – his injury looked serious at the time. How is he now?
The bad news is he won't be able to play tomorrow. He suffered an ankle injury during this international break and will be out for several weeks.
Adarabioyo is already a regular for England U21, and he scored his first goal for England U21 during the international break. Chelsea have conceded quite a few goals recently; are you considering him for the starting lineup tomorrow or in the coming weeks? Do you think he's ready?
He's already played in a few matches, so of course he's capable. I saw him perform well for England U21. He didn't play in the last match against Ireland, but overall, his performance has been very good, and he continues to improve. He's playing with more maturity, more aggression, and he understands better what it takes to play in the Premier League. He has excellent potential and ability at such a young age. He's already had opportunities and will continue to get more in the future.
