Roy Keane, speaking on Sky Sports about the ruling against Manchester City for financial irregularities, stated that the problem lies with the club's owners, not the players or fans. He added that he would be disgusted if his own team engaged in improper dealings or fraudulent accounting and would not consider any league title genuinely earned.

Keane said: "This is not about the players. Micah (Richards) spoke about growing up at Manchester City and playing for Manchester City. This is not about the players or the fans; the issue is with the club owners. If you want to win championships, you should win them honestly. You want to look back on your career and say, 'Yes, we gave it our all, we won some games, we lost some games.'
But looking back, you can't ignore what Manchester City has done and the fact that they've already been found to have breached rules—I know they've appealed. For years, we've praised Manchester City, praised them for bringing in great players, praised Guardiola for developing good players into superstars. But the way they achieved all this is the problem, not the players.
If I were still a player and there were reports about Manchester United engaging in such practices, I would be disgusted. If there were any improper dealings or fraudulent accounting, I would be sickened. Some might think that's a strong statement, but if there were shady operations behind the scenes, I wouldn't feel that league title was honestly earned, absolutely not.
We talk about players giving their all on the field, even at the cost of injury, but that's your job, that's what you're supposed to do. You can only hope that everyone else shares the same mindset, stays honest, and tries to do things the right way."
