According to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid has reached an agreement in principle with goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois on a new contract.

Romano stated that the club views Courtois as a key player and world-class talent. Following the verbal agreement, a new contract will be signed soon. His current contract expires in June 2027, which will be extended through the 2027/28 season.
