In a UEFA Champions League group stage match, Club Brugge defeated Inter Milan 4-3 away, with Tresoldi scoring a hat-trick.

According to Opta, Tresoldi became the first player in Club Brugge's history to score a hat-trick in the Champions League.

Tresoldi currently plays for the Germany U21 team. If he eventually decides to play for the German senior national team, he will also be the youngest German player (22 years and 54 days) to score a Champions League hat-trick, breaking the record (22 years and 257 days) held by Adeyemi.
