China PR inflicted a second consecutive heavy defeat on Tajikistan, defeating the Central Asian side 16-0 at Gelora Siriwijaya Stadium to advance to the quarter-finals with a game in hand on Monday.

A devastating performance from Wang Shanshan was the story of the day, as the striker scored a phenomenal nine goals despite only entering the action as a 56th minute substitute.

The forward's heroics were supported by a five-goal haul from Zhang Rong while Li Tingting and Wang Shuang both scored once each, as the Steel Roses piled on 13 second half goals.

Head coach Jia Xiaquan made eight changes to the line-up that beat Hong Kong 7-0 on Friday, but it made little difference to the result as goals to Zhao and Li had China PR 2-0 up inside four minutes.

Zhao added a third in the 19th minute, and - after period of relative calm kept the three-time gold medallists scoreless until half-time - a deluge of Chinese goals came after the interval. 

Two more from Zhao and another from Wang Shuang made it 6-0 at the hour mark, before the Wang Shanshan show began - with the prolific forward scoring nine goals in the final 26 minutes - seven of which came after the 80th minute - to leave Tajikistan shell-shocked.

With two big wins under their belt, a win over DPR Korea in China PR's final preliminary round fixture will be enough to top Group B, while Tajikistan will face Hong Kong after back to back 16-0 defeats.
