Wayne Rooney is preparing legal action over a controversial new book by former England teammate Andy Carroll.

The 40-year-old former England captain has sent a lawyer's letter to the publisher regarding claims in Carroll's upcoming autobiography, which alleges that Rooney drank with him while on England duty.

Carroll's book, titled "Staying Power," claims that Rooney, Manchester United legend, invited the player to his room for drinks during England's training camp during the 2010-2011 period.
