According to Sport, the trial for the Vinicius abuse case involving a Sevilla fan has been postponed until May 13, 2027. The request for postponement was made by one of the parties involved in the case.

The Provincial Court of Sevilla will hear the case, which was originally scheduled for April 2023. The prosecution is seeking a sentence of one year and nine months in prison for the fan, partly because he allegedly called the Real Madrid player a "monkey." He is accused of an offense against moral integrity.

The prosecution's indictment states that the fan repeatedly called the player a "monkey" throughout the 90-minute match, mimicked primate movements, and made "uh, uh, uh, uh" sounds.

The indictment also highlights that the incident occurred when the fan was seated in the North Stand, close to the pitch, during the Sevilla vs. Real Madrid match in October 2023. The indictment reads: "He repeatedly insulted Vinicius in a clearly discriminatory manner due to his black skin color, directed racist and humiliating shouts and gestures at him, causing him feelings of frustration, shame, and humiliation, thereby damaging his intrinsic dignity."

The indictment claims that these contemptuous acts included mimicking primate movements and repeatedly shouting "monkey," as well as "uh, uh, uh, uh" sounds. This onomatopoeia, imitating sounds made by primates, has been used repeatedly by some fan groups in different countries to publicly insult black players during football matches.

The prosecution also noted that the entire incident occurred "before a large audience on television, radio, and in print and digital media." Sevilla immediately expelled the member upon learning of the incident.

The individual is accused of an offense against moral integrity as stipulated in Article 173.1 of the Penal Code, and the prosecution has also determined that his actions had an aggravating racist motive. The prosecution is seeking a sentence of one year and nine months in prison. Both LaLiga and Real Madrid have intervened as prosecuting parties in this case.

In addition to imprisonment, he could also face a two-year stadium ban. If this penalty is imposed, he will be prohibited from entering stadiums hosting LaLiga Santander matches or competitions organized by the Royal Spanish Football Federation. The prosecution points out that this includes Copa del Rey, Spanish Super Cup, professional matches in European competitions, and matches of national teams at any level.
