According to Kicker, Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Florian Hofmann has stated he wants to continue playing for another two or three years and is open to the possibility of moving overseas, including to Major League Soccer.

Hofmann played for over half an hour in Bayer Leverkusen's 6-0 friendly victory over third-division side Fortuna Köln on Friday. Martin Terrier scored twice, and Nathan Tella netted one goal on his return from a weeks-long absence. Hofmann actively sought out playing time for the match. On Wednesday of that week, he became a father for the second time, welcoming another son, joking, "I'm building a football team."
Hofmann said the coach allowed him to decide whether to play, but he wanted to get out and stay active. This summer, he had the opportunity to transfer to Saudi Arabian club Al-Shabab but ultimately decided to remain at Bayer Leverkusen. When asked whether family considerations influenced the decision, Hofmann said, "It wasn't really about personal matters; ultimately, things just didn't work out across the board."
Regarding his future, Hofmann stated, "I'm not at the end of my career yet. My time at Bayer Leverkusen might be nearing an end, but I will definitely continue playing." He is currently mainly used as a substitute but is unbothered by the competition: "The competition is very strong, there are many quality players. But I'm relaxed; I know what to expect here."
The 2024 double-winner's contract runs until 2027. He stressed that he still trains with full intensity and maintains the same fighting spirit he had 15 years ago, though he hasn't yet reaped the corresponding rewards.
Hofmann also provided an assist for Patrik Schick's final goal of the match with a corner kick. He reiterated his desire to play for another two or three years and would be willing to move abroad to experience a different lifestyle, joking, "I don't know if anyone in Germany would still be interested in a 35-year-old player..."
Major League Soccer is among the options Hofmann is considering. He said, "A move across the Atlantic is also possible. I just want to do something completely different. Maybe one day you want to leave, want to see new things, want an adventure." His chapter at Bayer Leverkusen will conclude in nine months.
