According to Irish state broadcaster RTÉ, Ireland national team head coach Heimir Hallgrímsson has called on UEFA to prevent future matches between Ireland and Israel.

Hallgrímsson stated: "Ireland is naturally very supportive of Palestine. Few countries support Palestine as much as Ireland does. I don't want any national team to go through what we've experienced over the past two weeks; perhaps UEFA should intervene and do something about it."
In a contentious Nations League match, the two teams drew 1-1 in Ireland's "home" fixture, held in Bačka Topola, Serbia, on Sunday. A week earlier, Ireland had won 3-0 in Israel's "home" fixture, held in Debrecen, Hungary.
Hallgrímsson said: "There were many situations that could have escalated. We were careful enough to prevent things from developing further in time. I felt their intention was to intimidate us and provoke us into doing something foolish." He made these remarks while discussing the behavior of Israeli players and media.
