Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has rejected Martin Keown's suggestion that Manchester City's past titles should be stripped if financial breaches are proven. He even told Keown to "go sit in a dark room."

Keown previously stated that if Manchester City's financial irregularities are proven, the club's titles won between 2009 and 2018 should be voided. The Premier League confirmed last week that 114 of 115 charges against Manchester City have been upheld. Manchester City denies the allegations and filed an appeal Thursday, stating they "have not breached Premier League rules as alleged" and possess "irrefutable evidence."

Scholes wrote on social media: "Keep hearing former teammates say they want Manchester City's titles stripped, but they don't want their own medals back... Bloody hell, I'm greedy, I want my medals."

Keown responded: "How many medals does he need? He's already got about 12. But I can't tell him what to do or what to think. In my view, Manchester City's trophies from that period should be voided." Former Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan also criticized Scholes, saying he used to be someone who was "very objective, fair, and wise," and suggested that since starting a podcast with Nicky Butt, Scholes seems compelled to voice controversial opinions.

Scholes subsequently replied to Jordan on social media: "Pot calling the kettle black, Simon." He then told Keown: "As for you Keown, your 'seasons voided' idea, go sit in a dark room."

Former Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea also joined the discussion, asking on social media: "So... let's talk. How many Premier League titles did I win?" Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand also posted: "One more Premier League medal for the trophy cabinet."

Scholes won the Premier League 11 times during his career, with his first title in 1996 and his last in 2013, when Manchester United was managed by Sir Alex Ferguson.
