According to The Daily Telegraph, Aston Villa winger Alejandro Garnacho used the international break for an intensive "mini preseason" to quickly adapt to Unai Emery's tactical system and regain his Premier League form.

Garnacho joined Villa on loan from Manchester United this summer, but his new season has had a difficult start, with only 31 minutes played so far. In the four matches before the international break, he was on the bench but did not get any playing time.
However, this longer break gave Garnacho a chance to readjust. He had multiple one-on-one sessions with Emery at Villa's Bodymoor Heath training ground and underwent individual tactical training arranged by the coaching staff to help him better understand the Spanish coach's tactical requirements and playing principles.
In addition, Garnacho followed a personal fitness training plan. Villa believes his condition has shown significant improvement over the past two weeks.
During the international break, Villa played warm-up matches against Southampton and Sevilla, with Garnacho scoring in both victories. After defeating Sevilla away last Friday, he also posted on his personal social media: "Ready now!"
In fact, Garnacho is not the first player to need considerable time to adapt to Emery's complex tactical system. Youri Tielemans, who joined Villa on a free transfer in the summer of 2023, only gradually became a regular starter in November of that year.
Morgan Rogers, who previously joined from Middlesbrough, also experienced Emery's stricter demands during his initial adaptation period.
However, the pressure on Garnacho is clearly greater now. His previous experience at Manchester United was disappointing, and his career development stalled in recent years. If he cannot prove himself again at Villa, he might face the risk of being labeled as "failing to fulfill his potential."
The loan agreement between Villa and Manchester United includes a conditional mandatory purchase option. Manchester United believes that this purchase requirement will be easily met once the relevant conditions are triggered. Therefore, everyone, from Villa and Manchester United to Garnacho himself, hopes this loan spell will be successful.
Meanwhile, Garnacho's loan contract does not include a clause allowing Villa to terminate the loan early in January next year, which has led to comparisons with Harvey Elliott's situation last season. Elliott also received limited opportunities after joining on loan from Liverpool.
However, sources emphasize that Garnacho's situation is different from Elliott's. Emery still believes that the 22-year-old Argentine winger can regain his best form at Villa, where the external scrutiny and pressure will not be as intense as before.
Currently, Emery has three main options on the wing, in addition to Garnacho: Ibrahima Konaté, who joined for £47 million, and Alisson.
This weekend, Villa will host undefeated Brentford in the league. Afterwards, they will return to the Champions League next Wednesday, hosting Fenerbahçe in the league phase.
