Tottenham manager De Zerbi attended a press conference ahead of the Premier League Round 6 match away at Manchester United. During the second part of the press conference, De Zerbi discussed concerns about Maddison's injury, training schedules during the international break, the development of Matheus Fernandes, his experience when Juventus was relegated, and his views on football regulations.

Reporter: Many of your international players have left on international duty during the break, but a significant number of key attacking players like Solanke, Savio, Kudus and others have stayed at the training ground. How important is this individual and team training period for them?
De Zerbi: They've trained with outstanding dedication. This includes Udogie, Marcos Senesi, Kudus, Savio, Dominic Solanke, Conor Gallagher and others. I greatly value the tactical refinement they've undergone with me, but I also cannot overlook the international players who are away. We are a complete Tottenham, and whether our players are with their national teams or training with me at our base, my expectations for them are exactly the same.
Reporter: This summer, many knew that both Tottenham and Manchester United wanted to sign Matheus Fernandes, and ultimately he chose Tottenham. Although he hasn't played in a traditional central midfield position, how significant was signing him this summer? When will he be ready to take on a central midfield role?
De Zerbi: Matheus Fernandes is an excellent, talented player—perhaps one of the most skilled in our squad. He needs time to deeply understand the club's philosophy, time to fully integrate and adapt to the new environment at Tottenham. But I have great faith in him. He must perform strongly. Life and football are never easy; they're full of thorns, and the most essential quality is the courage to face and overcome these challenges. His performances when starting have certainly been no worse than anyone else's, and actually quite good; he needs to become stronger. He has my complete confidence and the absolute confidence of everyone at the club, but he needs time, and we must be patient with him.
Reporter: Hello Roberto. If you don't mind, I'd like to take you back to the past. In the 2006-07 season, you played for Napoli in Serie B and were promoted. The only team ahead of you was Juventus. With Juventus just relegated to Serie B due to the "Calciopoli" scandal, do you remember what it felt like to face them in Italy back then? Did the other Serie B teams resent them taking a valuable promotion spot?
De Zerbi: Hold on (signals to the translator). (Asking the reporter) What exactly are you trying to say? Are you trying to steer this toward a discussion about Manchester City? You want to bring up Manchester City?
Reporter: I just wanted to know your personal feelings as a player back then.
De Zerbi: Oh, as a player, listen, back then I was very hot-headed, full of pure competitive spirit, and I can't remember exactly what I thought. My mind was only focused on the ball, on doing my job well. As a player, you don't think about many complex issues off the pitch; it's the same as a coach. All your focus is on your players. Especially now that our team is at the bottom of the table, I don't have time to worry about other teams or any other distractions outside the club.
Reporter: But looking back, how do you think that event had a lasting impact on Italian football?
De Zerbi: Nothing. I believe there are people in the world responsible for making decisions, and they must demonstrate responsibility and courage, always upholding honesty and fairness in their judgments. And that is absolutely not my responsibility. My responsibility is to be a good football coach. But I've always firmly believed one thing: I truly love and firmly adhere to the rules.
