In the 5th round of the Bundesliga, Borussia Monchengladbach played away against FC Köln, ultimately losing 1-2 and suffering their fifth consecutive defeat in the Bundesliga.

In the 68th minute of the second half, 22-year-old Japanese midfielder Santo Uno came off the bench to replace Neuhaus, making his Bundesliga debut.

Santo Uno joined Borussia Monchengladbach from J-League side Shimizu S-Pulse in the summer transfer window for a transfer fee of 500,000 euros. The player had previously been sidelined due to injury.
