The KCCA winger was dropped to the bench with Kaweesa Hood stepping up

Uganda head coach, Moses Basena has revealed the reason why former AFC Leopards midfielder, Allan Kateregga was benched against South Sudan.

The KCCA winger was dropped to the bench with Kaweesa Hood stepping up to his place in Uganda Cranes starting line up in the second match of the ongoing Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup at Bukhungu Stadium.

The under-pressure Basena revealed that the dreaded winger was forced out of the first team squad to accommodate the formation of the day that favours more of attack.

“We are going to play a 4-3-3 formation and so he (Kateregga) had to pave way for another striker,” said Basena in a pre-match interview.

Uganda went to the match with only one point, having been held to a scoreless draw by Burundi in the opening match.

Burundi who will next take on Ethiopia are top of the table with four points, one above their next opponents. South Sudan lost their opening match 3-0 to Ethiopia.
