Manchester City eased to a 2-0 victory over Moroccan side Wydad AC as they began their Club World Cup title defence at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.

Phil Foden opened the scoring after just two minutes as he swept in his first goal in 20 games.

The 25-year-old found the back of the net after Wydad goalkeeper El Mehdi Benabid was unable to parry away Savinho's effort.

Jeremy Doku then volleyed home a Foden corner to double City's lead just before the break.

Rico Lewis was handed a straight red card with just minutes remaining after catching Samuel Obeng in a 50-50 challenge.

Although FIFA has faced criticism due to swathes of empty seats at the tournament so far, thousands of Wydad fans packed the stadium, providing a party atmosphere.
