Former Liverpool player James Milner discussed Mario Balotelli on a podcast, comparing his behaviour to that of an 11- or 12-year-old child.

Milner said: "I always got along well with him, even though it was like having an 11- or 12-year-old child on the team. Sometimes when everyone was talking and no one was paying attention to him, he would do all sorts of silly things to get attention. He would make noise, break things, just to get everyone's attention."
Milner also recounted a past incident: "Once, he drove a camouflage Bentley to training. I saw him back up and hit my car, and then he denied it right in front of me. However, he is also one of the best penalty takers I have ever seen. In training over the years, I have never seen him miss a penalty. He was also one of the first players to seriously study the goalkeeper."
Balotelli did not fully agree with this assessment, commenting on the related video posted by Milner: "Wow, James, I think you're exaggerating the 'child' part."
